Abstract: 
This talk will be about the spectral theory of canonical systems. After an introduction to canonical systems, a version of oscillation theory for them will be discussed. Some applications of oscillation theory to semibounded systems, relations between diagonal and nondiagonal systems, and the essential spectrum will be highlighted.
