Some safety hints
Prague is about as safe as most European capitals. There are several things, however, you should keep in mind:
- The probability of being cheated by a taxi driver is not negligible, in particular, if you stop one at a street. The official price norm Kc 17 per kilometer is often violated if the customer does not know the language and local topography. Demand in advance the price estimate and the receipt ( stvrzenka in Czech).
Cabs ordered through a hotel reception are generally safe; at the airport you should look for a registered AIRPORT CAR
- The risk of pickpocketing is higher in the central part of the subway during the rush hour.
