Centre of Advanced Applied Sciences
in program "Radiation analytical methods (IRMA)"
head:
The group activity is devoted to research and development of ion
beam equipment and ion beam modifications and analyses of materials:
1. elemental analysis of various materials
- optical materials
- archeological samples (fosile human bones)
- environmental samples (atmospheric and indoor aerosol, lichens)
- other crystalic or amorphous solids
- new - nanopowders
2. ion beam modification of materials
The Ion Beam Laboratory equipment consists of
- Medium energy (100 keV) experimental ion beam facility with
versatile heavy ion source and mass separated ion beam.
- Analytical equipment using proton and He-ion beam from 2.5
MV Van de Graaff accelerator. There are two target chambers: the
experimental one for ion scattering measurements and one for PIXE
analysis. The PIXE analysis
is performed either in high vacuum, or in an atmosphere (N, He)
with external beam. Liquid sample analysis is also possible.
